Applications Due: Friday, September 2nd
This year we will begin the GeoChicks program for 8th grade girls interested in science, math, engineering and technology. We will meet during den time on Tuesdays & Thursdays and after school on Tuesdays until 4:50. Students will work on different activities & projects throughout the year. Some activities may require students to provide basic materials.
Our capacity is 45 students. Applications will be accepted on a first-come basis, and then a waiting list will be kept in the order of applications received. Students will be notified on Tuesday, September 6th and the first GeoChicks meeting will be Thursday, September 8th.
Expectations:
• Consistent attendance
• $10 fee (includes t-shirt)
• Prompt arrival
• Can stay after school until 4:50 on Tuesdays with a ride home*
• High interest in science skills
• Exemplary behavior in the classroom and at all club meetings
• Parent permission and transportation home after school field trips/meetings
• Teacher recommendation
* If you are unable to stay after school because you would not have a ride home, please consider joining the ACE program so you could ride the ACE bus home.
